Massey Ferguson 240
The Massey Ferguson 240 entered production in 1979 in Coventry. The model was part of the 200 Series and succeeded the MF230. The last known list price was approximately 18,800 US dollars, and production of the MF240 ended in 1999. The Massey Ferguson 240 is well known for its ability to start easily, even in cold temperatures. Despite its age, the tractor remains fuel-efficient and easy to operate.
The MF240 was available in both two-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive versions and was powered by a 2.5-litre three-cylinder Perkins diesel engine. The tractor was equipped with an air filter featuring dual dry elements. In most cases, the Massey Ferguson 240 came fitted with hydrostatic power steering and a two-post ROPS (Roll-Over Protective Structure).
Early MF240 models were equipped with mechanical drum brakes, while later versions featured differential mechanical wet disc brakes. The Massey Ferguson 240 is regarded as a reliable tractor and remains an excellent choice for tractor enthusiasts and collectors alike.
