Tractor Parts for Eicher

The German company Eicher was founded in 1934, but it was not until after the Second World War that it began producing tractors on a large scale. Eicher was the first manufacturer to use an air-cooled, direct-injection diesel engine in a tractor. In Germany, the company not only built tractors, but also produced various agricultural machines such as ploughs, forklifts, and even trucks. By the late 1990s, Eicher had achieved considerable success with its narrow-gauge tractors powered by the air-cooled Eicher engine, recognizable by a separate fan for each cylinder.

In 1970, Eicher entered into a partnership with Massey Ferguson. However, this collaboration led to serious financial difficulties. Eventually, the company was rescued in 1984 by its Indian sister company, which had originally been established in 1957 to develop the Indian branch of the business. In 1988, Eicher was bought out, but the company went bankrupt again in 1991. Although the business was restarted, the production of agricultural tractors ended that same year. Eicher India continued building Eicher tractors until 2005. The Indian branch still exists today, although the production of tractors and diesel engines has since been incorporated into TAFE.
