David Brown
David Brown Engineering Limited, the British tractor manufacturer, produced a wide range of agricultural vehicles for many years. These included both the Implematic models and the 900 series.
A notable feature of David Brown tractors was that they were all equipped with diesel engines. The brand was also distinctive in its approach to the lifting system, as it used oil from the gearbox instead of hydraulic oil for the hydraulic linkage system.
During the Second World War, tractor production was temporarily suspended, and David Brown focused mainly on producing aircraft tow tractors, known as the Taskmaster, for the British Army. After the war, tractor production resumed, including the introduction of the VAK 1A.
David Brown also entered into several successful partnerships with other companies. One notable collaboration was with Ferguson, which resulted in the Ferguson-Brown — the first tractor equipped with a three-point linkage system.
In 1973, David Brown began working together with Case IH, combining their strengths. However, this partnership also caused confusion, as the tractors carried the David Brown name on the engine, Case branding on the front, and International Case stickers elsewhere on the machine. This confusion eventually led to the full integration of David Brown and Case into Case IH, a brand that still manufactures tractors and agricultural machinery today.
