Massey Harris Pony

From 1947 to 1957, the Massey-Harris Pony was produced. The Pony was introduced in France to meet the needs of the French market. Instead of the large tractors used in the US and Canada, there was more demand for small horsepower tractors. The need for the Massey-Harris Pony arose from the different farming requirements in France. The Massey-Harris company, as opposed to the production location and sales market, is of Canadian origin. It is estimated that some 28,000 of these tractors were built over a 10-year period.

The Pony was by far the most popular model of the Massey Harris horse line, which also included the Pacer, Colt and Mustang, of which the Pony was logically the smallest. The model had several versions, including the industrial version (Model 14 Pony) and the Model 811 Pony. The tractor was designed to compete with the John Deere L, the Allis Chalmers G and the Farmall Cub. The Massey-Harris Pony is sought after by collectors and novice mechanics for three reasons. There are plenty of parts available, it is easy to maintain and its small size makes it easy to transport. In 1957, the Massey-Harris Pony was replaced by the Massey Ferguson 821 when the company merged and Massey Ferguson was formed.
