Fordson Major / Fordson Super Major

The name Fordson Major was used for different models and varieties of tractors. This series of tractors was built by Ford of Britain under the brand Fordsen and later under the brand Ford Tractors. In the Major series the E27N Major and E1A Major models were released, among others. Variations of the Fordson E1A were released under the name Diesel Major, New Major, Power Major and finally the Fordson Super Major. 

In 1960 the Fordson Super Major replaced the Fordson Power Major. At the time this was seen as a major upgrade within the E1A models. Later, the Fordson Super Major also turned out to be the last in the series. What made the Super Major different from its predecessor was the introduction of "Qualitrol". This is a hydraulic system with flow control and position control, this system provided a significant improvement over the previous models. The engine power was further increased to 54hp and disc brakes were added. In 1962, the former blue-orange was replaced by a new colour scheme of mainly blue and white. This was a prelude to the colour scheme of the Fordson 100 series which came out later.
