IHC Mc. Cormick D

International Harvester Company (IHC) has a rich history. The history of the company goes back to 1830. In that year, inventor Cyrus Hall McCormick put the finishing touches to his version of a horse-drawn reaper. In 1847, he and his brother moved to Chicago and started the Harvesting Machine Company. After his death, his son, Cyrus McCormick Jr, took over. He merged with three smaller farm implement companies in 1902 to form the International Harvester Company (IHC). The McCormick-Deering tractors were renamed simply McCormick, which continued in Europe. In the US, the tractors were later renamed International.

In 1956, IHC introduced the Mc. Cormick D-Series tractors, consisting of the models D-212, D-217, D-324 and D-430. The D-Series was a further development of its predecessors, such as the Farmall DED-3. A striking feature of these tractors is that the headlights were at the front for the first time. What makes these Mc. Cormick D-series tractors from its predecessors are the angular bonnet and grille with the IHC logo on it. The tractors are also recognizable by the elongated chromed plates on the side with the inscription "McCormick International Farmall". The IHC Mc. Cormick series remained in production until 1966.
