In 1964, Massey Ferguson introduced its first model in the MF100 Series, the Massey Ferguson 135. The tractor entered production in Detroit to succeed the MF 35. Three different variants of the model were produced between 1964 and 1975. The Massey Ferguson 135 Deluxe was the apple of the eye at the time and aimed at the premium segment. The MF 135 Special was a version that served the so-called economy class. In addition, there is a 2135 variant that was specifically aimed at the industry.
The Massey Ferguson 135, which was usually equipped with a 45 hp diesel engine, was produced in the hundreds of thousands. The two-wheel drive tractor was one of the most popular tractors of its time. The Massey Ferguson 135 is still very much in demand on the second-hand market. This is because of its high reliability and simple mechanical construction. What also made the model popular was the experience of farmers as they studied at British agricultural colleges. The first models had a 6-speed forward and 2-speed reverse gearbox. Later versions came with an 8-speed gearbox. The MF 135 also came in a multi-power option giving 12 forward and 4 reverse speeds, this model has a hydraulic clutch.
